Palinuro and Cilento: an enchanting land!

A handful of houses along the main street and on the small square.
Along the main street, there are many shops and artisan boutiques, as well as small restaurants, all offering tempting options for passing tourists.

Blue Palinuro
There are paths on the promontory that are particularly interesting for trekking lovers.
These are paths that have been walked for centuries: they connected the Saracen towers, which stand silent, guarding stories of the past. The colors repeat, as if they were a musical motif between the green of the Mediterranean scrub that ends overhanging the cliffs, and the deep blue of the sea, the blue Palinuro.

Beaches of Palinuro
The most famous is the Spiaggia delle Saline (Saline Beach), which begins below our apartment hotel and stretches for kilometers to the nearby town of Pisciotta. Shallow, sandy seabeds and small, outcropping cliffs alternate in an enchanting landscape.
Spiaggia del Mingardo (Mingardo Beach): also kilometers-long, it alternates long stretches of beach with Aleppo pine forests and isolated rocks.
There are smaller but still beautiful beaches, such as the Buondormire, Baia Infreschi, Cala Bianca and many others: they can all be reached only by sea.

The Caves of Palinuro
You can easily visit the sea caves of Capo Palinuro by boat excursions or scuba diving. The Grotta Azzurra (Blue Cave), is known for the spectacular reflections created by sunlight on the seabed. Not to be missed are Grotta del Sangue (Blood Cave), Cala Fetente (Fetente Cave) and Grotta dei Monaci (Monks' Cave) and Cala delle Ossa.
Archaeological Sites
The ancient city of Elea was founded around 540 B.C. by exiles from Phocaea, who had escaped the Persian invasion. Elea is popular for being the birthplace of the philosophers Parmenides and Zeno, the founders of the Eleatic school. Today, the ruins of the city, offer a particularly interesting Archaeological site, attracting enthusiasts and scholars from various countries.
Paestum, founded by the Greeks in 600 B.C. under the name Poseidonia, and becoming a Roman colony in 273 B.C., famous for its Doric temples (better preserved over time), is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The archaeological site of Paestum is located about 66 km from our apartment hotel.

Nature and Trekking
The Cilento National Park is a paradise for nature and excursion lovers. The Sentiero dei Fortini e delle Torri offers a scenic trail along the coast, with views of both the sea and Mediterranean vegetation. In addition, you can explore the Valle delle Orchidee (Valley of Orchids) and Monte Gelbison (Mount Gelbison), which is sacred for its thousand-year-old religious tradition.
Trekking and mountain biking are among the most beloved activities in this area, but there's also room for rock climbing and other extreme sports!
